"Your question becomes their question as well. A conversation begins."
- Sherry Turkle

HOW TO PLAY SMOL TOK?

Be fully present to one another. Put your mobile devices to airplane mode.

  1. Pick a card and ask a question

  2. Everyone takes turns to answer as honestly as they can

  3. Be curious, ask follow-up questions

 WHAT IS SMOL TOK?

It's a card game of questions and answers that can be played as an ice-breaker or a tool to build meaningful relationships. We created smol tok to get people talking and sharing openly about what matters to them.

The questions in smol tok encourage players to reflect deeply and share personally about their values, hopes, and goals with each other. This process is both person-centred and life-giving.

WHY PLAY SMOL TOK?

  1. Have meaningful conversations

  2. Get to know yourself

  3. Get to know other people

 FACILITATING MEANINGFUL CONVERSATIONS

The face-to-face conversations we carry out every day have the power to inform and inspire.

Yet, how we communicate with each other and consume information online is impacting the way we interact in real life. With smol tok, we want to facilitate the habit of having meaningful face-to-face conversations.

smol tok may be a useful resource to your organisation's work, especially in the areas of mentoring or building/engaging the community:

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

smol tok can be used to break the ice, especially with staff or volunteers who are meeting each other for the first time or after a long interval.

The questions in smol tok can also be used to create meaningful conversations in community events like retreats or open-houses.

MENTORSHIP

When playing with younger people of different ages in small groups, younger players get the chance to journey with older players by listening and learning from different perspectives.

As players mature, answers may change; playing gives mentors a chance to track growth.
